I've just stumbled into your blog. Just a reminder: "Newfie" is a derogatory term to those educated to know the difference. I'm sure your colleagues would probably agree.
as a newfie living in ontario, i'm not overly offended by this word anyways... besides, a word is involved in a complex intertextual relationship to many other words and concepts, and it is reductive, in my opinion, to pass judgment on one...
